First Impression

It takes 39 milliseconds to form an opinion about something.
The brain does not exhaustively analyze properties, but immediately uses analogies and associative representations that
already exist in the same context of its memory.

Prof. Moshe Bar, neuroscientist

First impression, 2010 - 2013, deals with the impact of associative representations on our ability to be instantly impressed by people and images we encounter for the first time. As well as the interaction between text and photography.
The work presents fifteen portraits whose subjects I met at random, alongside texts written by people who only got to see the image. The photographed image and the text are presented together, yet constitute two separate and independent entities of equal force.
